Money Banks

This is a project for early in the year, so that students can use their banks for the rest of the year to learn about money. Students decorate a small can with pictures to make it their own. The teacher can use these banks as a mathematics tool. By distributing fake money to the students over time, the teacher can evaluate student’s grasp on each coin’s value, and their ability to add and subtract money.

  • This project is similar to work book covers. In both cases, students decorate a tool that will help them throughout the year.
